Shift Leader Position Description

Shift Leaders for Forage Kitchen will be trained to provide industry leading customer service to all of our guests. Whether they are coming through our line, placing an order online, or over the phone it is your job to make sure the customer knows that they are served with empathy, care, and fresh, healthy food.

Shift Leaders are also required to trouble-shoot minor technical issues with online ordering platforms. You’re also looked to for leadership, decision making, as an example to the other staff.

Let’s get down to a “Day in the Life” of a Shift Leader:

  • Preparing the restaurant to open (light prep of food (portioning, chopping herbs and breads)
  • Point of Sale (POS) efficiency & troubleshooting
  • General Cleaning
  • Customer Service (welcoming & thanking customers, eye contact, demeanor, upselling, suggesting substitutions, etc.)
  • Building bowls for in-person and online orders
  • Developing an intricate understanding of the menu
  • Tracking FIFO
  • Understanding “Par” levels
  • Communicating with the GM and/or KM as needed
  • Controlling shift labor hours
  • Acting as a point person for the Salad Builders if/when the GM is not available or working
  • Preparing the restaurant to close
